Şekerbank has achieved international recognition for its pioneering project designed to advance digitalization in agriculture and promote sustainable production practices. The Bank received the Bronze Award in the “Social, Sustainable, and Responsible Banking Innovation” category at the Banking Innovation Awards 2025, organized in Athens through the joint initiative of Qorus, Infosys, and Finacle, with its cutting-edge digital transformation project that enables companies sourcing from farmers to monitor production processes transparently, in real time, and with full traceability—from the field onward.
Since its inception, Şekerbank has consistently combined its long-standing commitment to sustainable agriculture with innovative digital solutions. Through this award-winning initiative, which unites all stakeholders of the agricultural ecosystem on a single digital platform and ensures end-to-end traceability of the production process, the Bank has once again been recognized on the international stage. At the award ceremony held in Athens under the partnership of Qorus, Infosys, and Finacle, Şekerbank was honored with the Bronze Award in the “Social, Sustainable, and Responsible Banking Innovation” category for its outstanding contribution to sustainable finance and agricultural innovation. The project, which shapes the future of agriculture, was selected from among 320 projects submitted by 130 financial institutions across 53 countries, standing out as a benchmark in responsible banking innovation.
The initiative enables farmers to digitally record and share their production data, allows agricultural engineers to perform real-time productivity analyses, and provides agribusinesses within the food supply chain the ability to instantly verify production quality at the field level. Moreover, the system functions as an innovative enabler of green finance, generating reliable data sets applicable to sustainable production certifications and thereby facilitating access to green financing for both producers and corporates.
