Şekerbank and EBRD provide financial support to women-owned SMEs and young entrepreneurs

Şekerbank signed a €60 million loan agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to support inclusive growth. This four-year financing package, provided under the Türkiye Women in Business (TurWiB-II) and Türkiye Youth in Business (TurYiB) programs, aims to increase access to finance for women-led SMEs and young entrepreneurs.

Şekerbank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development have signed a new €60 million loan agreement. Under the agreement, the four-year loan will support women-led SMEs with €30 million under the Türkiye Women in Business (TurWiB-II) program and young entrepreneurs with €30 million under the Türkiye Youth in Business (TurYiB) program. With these funds, Şekerbank will support job-creating investments and contribute to the sustainable growth of women-led SMEs and young entrepreneurs, particularly in Anatolia.

Fatma Nur Çetinel, Executive Vice President of Treasury and Financial Institutions at Şekerbank, expressed her gratitude at taking the long-standing cooperation with the EBRD to a new level with the TurWiB-II and TurYiB programs, saying: “This important source of funding will support women-led SMEs and young entrepreneurs in strengthening their investments and increasing their production and employment potential. Considering the critical role of SMEs in the Turkish economy, we believe that this financing, which will reach businesses operating in Anatolia in particular, will also make a significant contribution to regional development. With our pioneering role in sustainable and inclusive banking and the funding we have acquired from development-oriented international financial institutions, we will continue to enhance access to finance.
