Big support to production: “Family Farming Banking”
Şekerbank started the “Family Farming Banking” in November 2014, achieving a first in the world, so that the farmers whose income decreases and who leave their farms for cities as the agricultural lands are divided by inheritance and thus diminished would stay at their farms. Opportunities with a maturity of 5 years, provided for the first time in the sector, are extended to farmers whose income decreases and who leave their villages due to reasons such as agricultural lands being divided by inheritance and thus diminished, limited irrigation facilities and inability to apply modern agricultural methods.
In line with the purpose of preventing migration from villages to cities by increasing the number of entrepreneur and project-generating female farmers in country within the scope of the “Family Farming Banking”, the Bank, which supports the entrepreneurship trainings of over 4.000 women as the supporter of the “Program for Reinforcement of Women's Entrepreneurship in Agriculture” started by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, is assisting the entrepreneur farmer women in implementing their projects since 2015.
European Union Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance-Rural Development Program (IPARD)
A protocol has been signed between the Agriculture and Rural Development Support Institution and Şekerbank for the purpose of promotion of the IPARD Program. Within the scope of the European Union Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance-Rural Development Program, the entrepreneurs across Turkey, who request funds for their rural investment projects, can acquire the remaining equity amount from Şekerbank with the credit letter of intent while receiving grants-in-aid up to 65%. Şekerbank, which has a widespread network of branches covering 71 cities and 97 off-center districts across Turkey, has participated in the IPARD Program to support the rural development by using its power in broad-based banking.
