03.05.2017
Şekerbank Açıkekran New Media Arts Gallery continues to present important works of the contemporary art scene with a new exhibition consisting of video works by Angela Detanico and Rafael Lain. The “Letter Pieces”, inspired by natural sciences, physics and astronomy can be seen through July 29, 2017.

Açıkekran New Media Arts Gallery is preparing to present the video works of Brazilian artists Angela Detanico and Rafael Lain titled “Letter Pieces” to art lovers. The video titled ‘Time’ from the show that references the “Revolutions of the Celestial Orbs”, introduces the inventions attributed to mathematician, astronomer and cartographer Nicolas Copernicus, will be available for art lovers under the curatorship of Ali Akay in Turkey’s only art platform focused on new media and video art, Açıkekran New Media Arts Gallery, as well as in 9 branches of Şekerbank located in 8 different provinces.

Show titled “Letter Pieces” by Angela Detanico and Rafael Lain, who have based in Paris for many years, working on elements of sound, video, text, graphics and traditional art forms in their installations, is comprised of four videos titled ‘Time’, ‘Copernicus’, ‘365 Soles’ and ‘Revolutions’. The video works, which set out from Copernicus’s book on rediscovering the locations of celestial objects and constant revolution and focus on the distance of planets to the sun and the sounds these indicate, reminds us that this discovery of the 15th century caused a great revolution in natural sciences. The videos that transform the mechanical functions of the rules of the sky into an audio machine, are reminiscent of a mobility comprised of letters and make reference to a scientific discovery that centers around the solar system.

Şekerbank, which has brought contemporary art to Anatolia through its first art platform focused on new media and video art in Turkey, Açıkekran, and through its branches, continues to provide access to current artistic works. The ‘Time’ video included in the exhibit will take art lovers on an enjoyable journey between science and art being presented simultaneously at the Açıkekran Levent, Ankara Küçükesat and Kızılay, Kırklareli-Alpullu, Ordu, İzmir, Bodrum, Mardin and Edirne branches of Şekerbank.
