Şekerbank Açıkekran New Media Arts Gallery meets the art-fans again at Contemporary Istanbul, the most comprehensive contemporary art event of Turkey, the 10th edition of which has been organized this year.

Açıkekran will participate in Contemporary Istanbul held in Istanbul Congress Center and Lütfi Kırdar International Congress and Exhibition Center on November 12-15, 2015 with Sibel Kocakaya's video installation in the booth number IKM A1-116. Açıkekran’s exhibition layout is curated by Ali Akay.

Young representative of contemporary art: Sibel Kocakaya

Within the scope of Contemporary Istanbul, which has brought the most important domestic and foreign institutions, galleries and initiatives of the contemporary art throughout the last decade, Açıkekran will this time introduce Sibel Kocakaya, one of the young representatives of the current art, to the art-fans. The artist who will meet the exhibition-goers with her video work called “Waving the Piano Keys” had participated in Açıkekran’s exhibition projects in the past years as well.

Basing her works on her ideational relationship with the daily objects which are around her, Kocakaya attempts to make a silent composition in her work “Waving the Piano Keys” by using the clothes-hangers she has encountered in Lyon, France. The images full of humour and reminding the silent movie scenes establish an ideational relationship between the market and daily life in Lyon and the spectators.
