QR Code Cheque Application in Şekerbank, a First in Turkey

Şekerbank has become the first bank which launched QR Code Cheque developed by Kredi Kayıt Bürosu to secure the payments made by means of cheque in Turkey.

Offering a brand new facility in the sector with the application that allows access to information about the validity of cheque and payment habit of holder with one click, the Bank handed in the first QR Code Cheque to its holder.

Indicating that they will facilitate commercial transactions by providing a better security for the collections made by means of QR Code Cheque, Halit Yıldız, General Manager of Şekerbank, said that the application allowed users to access current cheque payment performance with one click through smart phones, and cheque usage and trade with cheque will increase.

Şekerbank, which has 62-year deep-rooted experience in commercial banking, continues to offer unique innovations with its products and services in banking sector. 

Şekerbank has become the first bank which launched QR Code Cheque developed by Kredi Kayıt Bürosu (KKB) to secure the payments made by means of cheque in Turkey. Thanks to this application which is expected to be symbol of credibility for cheques, the bank will facilitate commercial transactions by securing collections more. 

It will be possible to access to content of cheque report with one click by means of QR Code Cheque to be custom-printed in a printing house upon the request of customers. The bearer of cheque will be able to access summarized cheque report and payment habits of account holder by reading the QR code on cheque leaves via smart phones. 

Being the first bank implementing the application, Şekerbank supplied the first cheque to its holder. Halit Yıldız, General Manager of Şekerbank handed in QR Code Cheque of EFA Makine Kalıp Sanayi ve Ticaret to Ferhat Akkuş who is the executive of the company which is a customer of Dudullu Branch of Şekerbank.

Halit Yıldız: "We are securing the finance of trade with cheque more"

Halit Yıldız, General Manager of Şekerbank, said that supporting manufacturers of Turkey with qualified financial products is a reflection of "Community Banking" mission of Şekerbank and they have achieved a large number of unique innovations accordingly. Indicating that checking whether a cheque is reliable in daily commercial life takes a long time, Mr. Yıldız reminded that QR Code Cheque was developed by KKB to provide better security for the substructure of financing with cheque which is one of the most important financial instruments in commercial life. Stating that QR Code Cheque will eliminate many hesitations in financing with cheque, Mr. Yıldız said that "with QR code cheque, we are securing payments by cheque and facilitating commercial transactions. We celebrate Kredi Kayıt Bürosu for developing this application. We are feeling the excitement of being the first bank offering this product and its advantages to its customers in Turkey".

"The application will increase cheque usage"

Mr. Yıldız indicated that the application will increase cheque usage and trading by means of cheque by allowing check bearers to reach current and practical information about cheque payment habits of people signing cheques easily and added that: 

"Cheque issuers preferring this application will be able to perform forward transactions easily and traders selling with cheque will be able to accept these cheques more reliably. We expect that the business organizations selling goods/services against cheque will prefer these cheques more than others as the familiarity with QR Code Cheque and its advantages increases. This demand will promote cheque issuers and holders to use this application. The sanctions against the issuance of bad cheques will be improved because cheque bearers can easily track cheque payment performance.

"The application will invigorate the economy"

Halit Yıldız underlined that popularization of the use of post-dated cheques and the increase in volume of forward transactions against cheque are considerably important for invigoration of the economy and for the growth, and added that the increase in the cheque volume would be possible if the enterprises making forward sales can access correct and updated information on the post-dated cheque issuers. Yıldız emphasized that the QR Code Cheque would make a positive contribution in development of trade and of the economy in general.

First QR Code Cheque has been delivered to its owner

Stating that the first request for QR Code Cheque in Turkey has been entered into the system by Şekerbank Dudullu Branch, Yıldız said that they believed that the product would receive a great deal of attention from clients thanks to the security and easy-to-use features it provides. Yıldız also said “Cheque inquiries will be performed easier from now on, and this will also popularize the application.” 

Reminding that all clients, corporate, commercial, enterprise and retail alike, can request QR Code Cheque. Yıldız emphasized that it is now possible to access the Findeks Cheque Report indicating the most current cheque payment performance of the cheque issuer plus the Cheque Index in the said report by smartphones and one touch.

What is the QR Code Cheque system?

The system developed by KKB to enable the banks to give the QR Code Cheque to their clients and the users to receive cheque report on the system is provided on Findeks. 

The leaves of the QR Code Cheque book are printed specially in the printing house, in a manner enabling the cheque bearer to read the QR code on the cheque leaf with his smartphone. Thus, the cheque bearer can verify the validity of the cheque and obtain the cheque information of the drawer. In order that the said information can be sent to the bearer's mobile phone, the bearer has to be a Findeks member.
